A Christmas tree without a "topper" is like not having frosting on your cake, a bow on a wrapped present, or no carved face on your Halloween pumpkin. Don't you agree?

Some people decorate with stars, some with angels, and some relate to whatever theme their tree might reflect. My favorite are of course snowmen!  The snowman tree topper that I make every year is an angel snowman with a rusty star and a vintage card tag. He's a customer favorite year after year.

Not only is he a tree topper, but you can also put a little gift card in his hem, or he can sit over a gourmet food jar such as cookie mix, jam, etc. Both of these ideas make for wonderful hostess gifts!

My BY WAY OF SALEM Website

Oh I've been so remiss! I haven't worked on my website in ages and it so needs to be updated. I apologize to everyone whose gone on and seen the same old stuff. There's also been some big staff changes so I'll probably have to update those as well. Another episode of "As the Bag Turns"....

So I'm not sure whether to keep it a selling website with a shopping cart like it is, or to just direct to Etsy. We'll have to just see. It's really a fun site! I have "Bag's Corner's" for your reading entertainment, and more stuff about me on the "About Us" page.

Woodland Winter - Sneak Peek!

Ok, ok! Some impatient folks out there! LOL! Here's a few sample pics of "Woodland Winter". Now these are just partial pics ok? Couldn't get a good full shot cause of the lighting, but I will get right on that tomorrow.

You can't see them here in this pic - but she's got a few of her forest friends with her to share her wonderful holiday; a slumbering earthworm, a whimsical snail, and of course a little boo pumpkin, with a sprinkling of flowers and leaves. A real Woodland Winter!

ScaryCats!

My trash can was overturned last night, and if this isn't a guilty face, I don't know what is! The latest addition to By Way of Salem: ScaryCats, a line of whimsically kooky and slightly spooky felines!


This is only the fur-st (get it) of many more kitties to come as they were really fun to make. Each one will be slightly different, and of course different colors - that's the really fun part. And like our feline companions, each one has a different personality to boot.

Henri - Alley Marauder Extraordinaire

These crazy cats are stitched of muslin, stuffed, painted, embellished with wire whiskers, and an adorable collar with an ID tag. Having all four legs on one side of your body does make it difficult to stand properly, so there's a loop on the back to hang 'em up, or you can prop 'em as well. And of course they're signed on the back by me.

Christmas Cards Coming Soon

Here is the first of our Christmas Card collection. It's just a quick pic so it might not do it justice. If it looks a bit crooked - it's because it didn't go in the scanner straight. Sorry - I'll fix it soon. They are done in watercolor and will be blank inside for your own message. The cards will come in a set of 6, in cellophane, and tied with a festive holiday ribbon. Haven't decided on a price yet - will keep you all posted! See them added soon to our website.
